Yesterday's Netflix announcement revealed a new variation on the TED format called TEDTalks Shows, a series of specially themed TED programs to be offered to Netflix members in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, U.K., and Ireland Sound Mixing.
Few details were offered as to how the TEDTalks Shows will differ from the normal TED format, but Lisa Nishimura, Netflix vice president of independent film content acquisition, said, "We are excited to be bringing this initial TEDTalks offering to our global streaming member community and look forward to a continued relationship with TED." Echoing those sentiments, June Cohen, executive producer of TED Media, said, "TED is delighted to offer Netflix subscribers these jumping-off points for exploring the world of ideas."
The Netflix news came on the same day as the announcement that TEDTalks will now have its own Android app Car Engine Care Tips.The new app will allow users to search the video database containing over 1,200 presentations even if their device is not connected to the Internet. The app will also allow users to access the TEDTalks radio-style audio stream, bookmark and share videos, and download videos for offline viewing, read here: Samsung Galaxy SIII mini.Already available for free download, the new TEDTalks app has garnered largely positive reviews in the Google Play store, while Amazon Appstore users seem to be less impressed with the app's performance on the Kindle Fire.
TED recently raised its profile as a major content producer when it announced a partnership with YouTube to launch an education channel.
